This is the read me file for the Caravan Generator compiled for Tablesmith.

I. Standard Disclaimer
1. You use the tables at your own risk. This should go without saying. And, given their limited scope there shouldn't BE any risk. However, I'll not take responsibility for any unexpected outcomes due to someone's using these tables.

2. These tables were derived in part from one of the tables originally developed for use with the program Tablemaster by Wintertree Software. This table goes significantly beyond that written by Wintertree software. That said, however, the conversion of this table here is in no way an attempt to infringe on that copyright. In their current format, these tables are neither published nor endorsed by Wintertree software who own the intellectual copyright to the original material. No charge or fee is requested or expected for these tables. These are meant only as a convenience to the users of Tablesmith since Wintertree software is, apparently, no longer in business.

II. Adding the Caravan Tables to your Catalog file.
Copy the lines between the asterisk lines (but NOT including the asterisks) into your catalog file. As always, make a backup copy of your original file before you make any changes. To add these tables to your category file:

1. Copy the lines below
2. Open Tablesmith
3. Click on the icon that looks like a pile of books
4. Paste the lines into the category file that opens,
5. Save and close the category file.

Note: Don't forget to click on the reset icon before trying to run the tables.

III. Adding the .tab files to your Tables folder.
In order for these tables to work, you'll need to copy/extract all the files ending with a .tab extension into the Tables folder under the Tablesmith directory.

IV. Tablesmith
1. Tablesmith is a shareware program generously developed and provided by Bruce Gulke. Notice I said shareware and NOT freeware. If you use his program for more than a week or two for evaluation, please send him the very reasonable $5.00 he's requested for the program's registration. He's certainly earned it by providing such a valuable tool. Bruce can be reached at by sending email to akira@mythosa.net

2. You can obtain the Tablesmith program from htt://www.mythosa.net. Once there, click on the RPG Utilities link and look for the most recent edition of Tablesmith. As of this writing, that was version 3.71.

4. I'd appreciate feedback - particularly about blatant errors in these tables - but PLEASE don't contact me requesting advice on creating tables for Tablesmith. If you start needing that level of help, register the program with Bruce Gulke (see above) and contact him. I can be reached for general questions as at awmarker@rcn.com or visit our website http://www.breminor.com/default.htm.

VI. Remember, the copyright to the content belongs to Midkemia Press, and the program these tables run on belongs to Bruce Gulke. Please do not do anything with these tables that would infringe on the copyrights of these owners. By all means, buy the Cities guide and register Tablesmith with Bruce.

VII. Occassionally, a rounding error will produce more bearers, animals, or wagons than the total listed at the top of the output. Also, this same problem can, humorously I think, produce a list that includes something like "0 donkeys carrying sacks of wheat (0 units)." When this happens, I suggest you do what I do; either reroll the caravan or simply ignore that line.
