                       History of Vinyamar
                            Chapter 1
                        Age of the Elves

1: Crash Landing at Vinyamar
A large group of elves, fleeing from the devastation on their
homeworld, arrive at this untamed wilderness which they name
Vinyamar (new home). Unfortunately, their vessel of transport, a
tremendous magical ark, is too damaged to go any further, and
they end up dismantling it in order to sustain themselves in this
strange new world by utilizing the remaining magics inherent to
the ship. They bring with them many dead as well, for their
journey was not easy, and there were many times when they were
harassed by outer-planar denizens. Among their dead is their
King, Elendil (star-lover).

57: Coronation of Elrohir
Elrohir, Elendil's young son, comes of age. The Elves proclaim
him their king, and he is crowned so by Dagnir, Elendil's brother
and the leader of the colony prior to this date. The day marks a
political loss for Dagnir, who argued after the death of Elendil
that the colony should be ruled by its wizards rather than a
king. As the High Mage of the Cult of the White Triangle, this
would have given him the greatest voice in the colony. Fearful of
the mages' power, Elrohir orders the dissolution of the cult
which his great-grandfather had sanctioned many centuries
previously.

72-89: Elrohir's Expeditions
Elrohir leads expeditions to scout the world's terrain. He
captures a pegasus which he names Glosfin in the icy northern
peaks, giving it to his bride-to-be, Loriel, as an engagement
present. Enchanted by the pristine world he finds, he commands
that its sanctity not be violated by elven magics.

84: Cult of the Green Shadow
Dagnir forms the Cult of the Green Shadow from the rebellious
remnants of the disbanded White Triangle. The new cult forms
without the King's sanction, thus against Elven law. Dagnir's
first mission is to bring diversity through magic. The cult
establishes an ethereal fortress at Orod Caraknar (Mount
Firefang). Experiments begin in earnest.

88: Introduction of Torogs
Several extra-planar specimens are captured and mutated via an
assortment of methods: thaumaturgy, conjuration, cross-breeding,
and even open prayers for divine intervention. Among these
specimens are a band of Torogs (Trolls) which the cult members
twist toward benign pacifism via a variety of mass enchantments.

92: Battle at Orod Caraknar
Dagnir's fortress is discovered, and Elrohir goes to battle
against his uncle. Elrohir kills many of the wizards, driving the
others into the wilderness.

94: Stand-off at the Forbidden Swamp
Elrohir tracks several of the escapees to a swamp far to the
north, however, it is so permeated by mutant magics that he is
forced to retreat. He commands the defeated mages to reunite or
be outcast forever. They choose to remain in the swamp which
Elrohir names the "Forbidden Swamp" decreeing that no other elf
may enter it.

95-141: Trade with Torogs
Over several decades the city of Elfinhome grows modestly with
a large population of newborns. Some of the citizens move east,
toward the mountains, where they find a band of Torogs. The
Torogs, one among many extra-planar species gated into the world
by Dagnir's cult, find favor for their gems and metal wares which
they trade for products of the surface world. The Elves are
pleasantly surprised by this uncommon flavor of Troll, more
willing to trade than slaughter for what they want. The Torogs
establish a city which they name Torogmar.
