Negotiations with Lesbos Break Down

Corina, the self-declared Queen of Lesbos (formerly known
as Dagger Isle), was imprisoned by Duke Trag after negotiations
for alliance broke-down last month. "She was born a Dusklaner,"
said the Duke. "Now, simply because she has defeated some slavers,
she thinks she can call herself a Queen. I was willing to recognize
her success and to even make her a Dame of the Realm, but she would
have none of it, too afraid of the pirate/sorceress Belit who dwells
near Dagger Isle and with whom we are at war. Corina has but to
pledge her loyalty to me and to King Kalis, and I will set her
free, but until then, she will be regarded as a traitor against
Dusklan and will remain in my dungeon."

Merchant Vessel "Happy Fish" Lost at Sea

Reputedly carrying thirty passengers and over a thousand tons of
cargo, the Happy Fish is now three months overdue and presumed lost
at sea. "Most likely it was Belit," said Admiral Dimithric. "She's
looking to expand her ranks with charmed soldiers. Those who fight
to the death end up serving her anyway... as mindless zombies."
The Admiral admited that the fleet is not yet up to strength for
a counter-assault, saying only that "until Belit is put to the
sword, merchants would be wise to sail together and hire armed
escort."

Dwarven Bandits Captured at Redridge

In an effort to retake their old claims by force, some fifty dwarves
attacked miners in the hills of Redridge. The dispute had been
brewing ever since the mines had been freed from a goblin infestation
by three mercenary bands hired by the dwarves. As readers may
recall, "Company of the White Flame", the "Lucky Delvers", and
"Gallagher's Gang" turned around and sold mining rights to the
citizens of Red Ridge after the dwarves failed to make good on their
promises of gold. "Now the stupid midgits attack humans, forgetting
who it was who saved their sorry butts?" queried Dawn, 2nd Lieutenant
of "Gallagher's Gang", in a fit of rhetorical disbelief. "They're
lucky we didn't chop them to bits on the spot. Now, even though
they'll be made slaves, at least they may have the opportunity to
earn back their freedom."
