Storm Hold: Sights to See

Storm Hold has a number of fascinating things to see. Aside from the
kaleidoscopic bevy of assembled peoples, products and services, there is the
temple district, the Council Dome and the Arena. But for those without a
citizen's pass to get into the Inner City, the main attactions are the
taverns...

The Burgundy Banner: This is a large and well-appointed tavern next
to the wall to the inner city. The building is made of burgundy-stained wood
and is decorated with bas-reliefs in iron depicting scenes of revelry and
debauchery. The owner and main bar-tender is a large round man with ruddy
skin, a huge red beard, and a bald pate. His name is Tarron Yor and he is a
retired captain of the guard. He has a bad arm and bad leg from injuries
suffered several years ago.
Tarron's bar is a warm and inviting place with slightly high prices
designed to "keep out the riff-raff". The environment at night is loud and
boisterous, with entertainers of various sorts keeping the customers
distracted from how much they're drinking.
The Burgundy Banner offer very good rooms and meals for those who can
afford it.

Vol's Folly: This is a small dingy place located in the port area.
Named for a human god of the wind, it is a disreputable establishment which
can be by turns deathly sullen or explosively violent. Still, for those with
the right temperment and bearing, Vol's is an entertaining place to slug back
rotgut and beat a few heads in. Vol's has a few cots for rent, but only the
foolish or the thoroughly innebriated would dare to sleep in this place.

Quorax's: Located on the edge of town, Quorax's blends two types of
clientelle: Farmer folk and travellers. A squat granite building, the bar
if the first public house one will encounter when coming to Storm Hold along
the road to Zhantoq. At the same time, it's position on the outskirts puts
it in close proximity to the farm lands which surround the city.

Bakii Arrach Oksan: This "bar" was established only a few years ago
by a Gashen merchant. It is located on the trail to the Gashen and Oogloo
lands and deals primarily in Pyulbarin gum. The building is a simple red
stone structure divided into a dozen or so rooms. Each room is festooned
with large pillows, draperies and a wide variety of spittoons for voiding
spent plugs of the hallucinogenic gum.
The name of the tavern means "Bak's place of dreams" in the Gashen
tongue. Bak is the owner's name, and "Arrach Oksan" (place of dreams) is a
term usually used to refer to holy sites where great visions may be had.
Some of the more devout followers of the Gashen religion find the name and
abuse of the Pyulbarin to be blasphemous. But Bak always finds enough Gashen
willing to transport and sell the gum. There are no rooms for rent here,
though customers frequently pass out and end up spending the night at the
cost of the contents of their pockets...
